HybriD3 Materials Theory Training Workshop
November 21-22, 2025 · Gross Hall, Duke University, Durham, NC
An NSF-funded workshop on atomistic materials simulation, organized by Volker Blum, Ph.D. (Duke University) and Yosuke Kanai, Ph.D. (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) together with the HybriD3 project team, and aimed at graduate students and postdocs entering the field. The workshop was attended by ~70 participants from across the state. They ran the hands-on density functional theory (DFT) tutorials on NCShare, using a prebuilt FHI-aims container set up with MPI parallelization, Intel MKL library, a Jupyter notebook interface, CLIMS (Command-line interface for materials simulations), and the FHI-aims code.
Container recipe: Apptainer Recipe for FHI-aims.
Tutorials: Basics of Running FHI-aims, from the FHI-aims tutorial series used for the hands-on sessions.
